The story through its verses

Read continuously: every passage is already open and arranged in narrative order.

01

A comfort to the eye

She asks that infant Moses not be killed.

Al-Qasas 28:9

Pharaoh’s wife said, “He is a source of joy for me and you. Do not kill him; he will probably benefit us, or we may adopt him as a son.” They were unaware [of the consequences].

02

A model of faith

She asks for a house near Allah and deliverance from Pharaoh.

At-Tahrim 66:11

And Allah sets forth an example for the believers: the wife of Pharaoh, who said, “My Lord, build for me a house in Paradise near You, save me from Pharaoh and his [evil] deeds, and save me from the wrongdoing people.”

Asiya is a traditional name, not Quranic wording.
